Yet another election? this time for the Westminster Parliament - does it really matter?

Yes it does matter! Monmouth needs someone who will ensure that they make themselves heard on the real issues that matter to the people of Monmouth not simply go through the motions. At least 70% of what MPs used to do before 1999 are now handled (or should be handled) by your local National Assembly members (in Cardiff), but there is still a great deal that needs to be done to improve the lot of our communities.

Why Plaid Cymru?

A strong Plaid Cymru Team of MPs will be able to work with the Plaid Cymru Ministers in the One Wales Government in the National Assembly and make it deliver for all the People of Wales.

Before you get overcome by election fatigue think on this?

Let’s be honest, the people of Monmouth have been pretty badly served, both by New Labour, by the Tories, by the wholly inadequate local government settlement and by the increasingly expensive council tax bills. Things need to change and change for the better to begin this process we need strong voices in the Westminster Parliament to ensure that our concerns are not over looked as being out of sight and out of mind!

Wales needs a proper Parliament!

Wales needs a proper Parliament so that we can make our own laws for education, health and housing, enabling us to express our proud tradition of social justice in Wales. Such a Parliament would empower Wales to use fiscal measures to encourage the growth of industries in the new economy, safeguarding the future for us all.

The best way to begin to solve the real problems that affect this constituency and the rest of Wales is to ensure that Monmouth Constituency has a strong voice in Westminster.

Plaid Cymru The Party of Wales has pledged to:

• Build safer communities in Wales by devolving the criminal justice service and police to the National Assembly for Wales, provide more drug rehabilitation places and programmes, provide better amenities for young people in their communities and provide greater support for victims and witnesses.

• Establish a real Parliament for Wales. We will introduce legislation to create a proper Parliament as recommended by the Richard Commission. We will seek an immediate and substantial increase in the representation of Wales within the European Union structures.

• Tackle climate change by encouraging the development of renewable energy sources including energy from the sun, tides, wind, water, and energy crops. This should include converting existing subsidies to more easily accessible support for the public to use renewables in their own homes, for example by installing mini roof wind turbines or solar panels. The National Assembly for Wales must have full responsibility for energy policy.

Vote with your conscience; vote for prosperity and self respect - vote Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales

New Labour and the Tories in Whitehall, Cathays Park and on Monmouthshire County Council have all continually failed to take into account the economic and social needs of the people of the constituency. My personal commitment to you is to put the real concerns of the electors of Monmouth to the forefront rather than simply push party political agendas at your expense.
